Important Information: EBSCO CINAHL and MEDLINE databases changes
Published Date: 17th June 2026
The EBSCO CINAHL and EBSCO MEDLINE databases will be changing on the 14th July and this may affect any search results that you have saved.
If you have never saved searches or results, you will not need to do anything.
What do I need to do? Will I lose my saved searches?
While some saved searches and records will transfer automatically the following will not be moved to the new interface:
- My Custom folders and their contents. This may be where your search results have been saved.
- Saved Search Alerts and Journal Alerts.
- Searches in the Persistent Link to Searches sub-folder.

We recommend that you save your search results into a word document or reference management software such as EndNote or Refworks.
If you want to explore other options, a set of FAQs have been prepared including screen shots to support you in understanding actions to take
Please contact the Library and Knowledge Service team if you need any help https://library.merseywestlancs.nhs.uk/contact-us.
What isn't changing?
Your access to EBSCO databases will continue via the link on our library website https://library.merseywestlancs.nhs.uk/databases, logging in with your NHS OpenAthens account.
We will create user guides and offer training on how to search the new interface for EBSCO databases shortly.
Please remember the deadline of 14th July 2026. If you haven't saved the results in your custom folders, they will be deleted.
