Here are some useful links for making the best use of your Library and Knowledge Service:
- borrow books (up to 12 books for a 4 week loan, renewed 5 times automatically);
- order documents and interlibrary loans;
- request evidence literature searches or book an assisted search;
- receive the latest library news.
- 24 hour access - use the library when it's convenient for you. Email us or call into the library to register.
- Apply for an NHS OpenAthens account or transfer your existing account to Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust for free access to a wide range of online resources. If you're not sure how to transfer your account please see our NHS OpenAthens guide.
- Sign up to KnowledgeShare and make sure you are kept up to date with the latest guidance and developments in your area of interest.

- Use the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub, a one stop gateway to find journals, full-text articles, e-books, clinical decision support tools, NICE Guidelines and more.
- Access over 7000 full-text electronic journals via Browzine.
- Register for UpToDate Anywhere, download the App and access the latest evidence wherever and whenever you need it. Click on the UpToDate link on your Trust desktop to register.
- BMJ Best Practice is available using your NHS OpenAthens account.
- We have purchased the following Clinical Key collections which can be accessed using your NHS OpenAthens account:
- Critical Care Medicine
- Emergency Medicine
- Internal Medicine (includes The Lancet)
- Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Orthopedics
- You also have online access to over 240 medical handbooks and textbooks published by Oxford University Press using your NHS OpensAthens account.
- We have a subscription to BMJ Case Reports. If you would like to submit a case report, please contact the library for the Fellowship number. Don't forget to let us know if you get an article published in here, or any journal, so that we can add you to our Staff Publications.
- Our Librarians can provide training in person or virtually, please see our LKS Training page for further details.
- We can save you time and find the evidence for you. If you need a literature search to support your clinical decision making then we can do this for you.
